Update
HESSEQUA NEWS - All accessible firelines and smouldering areas around structures were properly mopped up today with no open flames or visibility of smoke at 18:00.
On the Western flank on top of the mountain ridge, the wildfire is still active in valleys. On the north west part of the fireline there is a fresh burn scar of a fire of 2021. Therefore, the spread north-west will most probably self extinguish.
The fireline that could spread south west remains a big concern with vast areas of vegetation available to burn in accessible terrain. This could spread to nearby structures. This area will be closely monitored for any signs of spread down the mountain.
The landowner brush-cut a preventative fire break further down below the foot of the mountain.
The most western part of this fire line is also on the border of the Overberg District Municipality and their representatives are already forming part of planning sessions.
The wildfire on the north and south east parts is contained at this stage.

A reconnaissance flight will be undertaken tomorrow to confirm any fire activity.
Crews were split up covering the northern, as well as southern sides of the mountain and consisted of GRDM, CapeNature, Hessequa Municipality Fire and Working on Fire.
The plan of action for tonight is to patrol all areas that are accessible to ensure any fire won't reignite.
