ALBERTINIA NEWS - Firefighting teams are continuing to battle flare-ups at the Aasvoëlberg wildfire near Albertinia after variable wind conditions caused renewed activity following initial containment.
At the time of reporting, several open flames and numerous hotspots remain active, particularly along the western and southern flanks of the fire.
Ground crews are actively working to contain these areas.
Additional firefighting teams have been deployed on foot to access terrain that cannot be reached by vehicles.
Agencies involved in the response include the Garden Route District Municipality, Hessequa Municipality Fire and Rescue Services, Working on Fire, the Southern Cape Fire Protection Association, and Albertinia Farm Watch Fire Volunteers.
Members of the public are urged to report any veld or wildfire sightings immediately to the Garden Route District Municipality Emergency Call Centre on 044 805 5071 or via WhatsApp on 081 709 5193.
