HEIDELBERG NEWS - A large wildfire that broke out outside Heidelberg on Teusday, 21 October, has been successfully contained following excellent work by night crews who continued the strong efforts started by the day shift.
According to the Garden Route District Municipality (GRDM), a few smouldering hotspots remain in a ravine containing indigenous vegetation, and these areas will be prioritised for attention today.
Ground teams will also patrol and verify the outer perimeter of the fire boundary, as very high temperatures are forecasted for the day.
The GRDM has urged residents to remain alert and to immediately report any signs of smoke or new wildfires to the Emergency Call Centre at 044 805 5071 or via WhatsApp at 081 709 5193.
