R305 construction work near completion

STILBAAI NEWS - The construction work on the R305, Stilbaai road will be completed soon.

The Department of Transport and Public Works expects the project to reach practical completion in March.

"The entire Main Road 332 was open for traffic - full width during December," said Byron la Hoe from the department.

Outstanding roadworks are the following:

The completion of the last 500m of the road towards the bridge at Stilbaai left-hand side.
The completion of the base course and seal of a climbing lane, approximately 3km from Stilbaai, right-hand side. The contractor is busy with the base course.
The application of the second slurry layer to complete the seal from km 12 to the bridge at Stilbaai. The second slurry was applied up to km 12 before the closure of the December holiday break.

Other work outstanding is the completion of the paved walkway from Melkhoutfontein to Stilbaai and general finishing and cleaning of the road reserve.
