GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - The public will have a chance to experience the creativity and innovation of some of the Eden Karoo district's brightest young minds when the 2026 Eden Karoo Regional Science Fair opens its doors at Hoërskool Outeniqua on Saturday 1 August.
Visitors are welcome from 12:30 to 13:30, when the learners' science projects will be on public display before the judging concludes later in the afternoon.
The event forms part of the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists 2026, which is currently rolling out its regional science fairs across South Africa. These fairs provide young scientists an opportunity to showcase their scientific investigations and innovations, and the top projects will progress to the Eskom Expo International Science Fair later this year.
The Eden Karoo Regional Science Fair will showcase projects by learners from schools across the district, covering a wide range of scientific fields. The exhibition offers a unique opportunity to see how young researchers are tackling real-world problems through investigation, experimentation and innovation.
The morning programme is reserved for registration, judging and interviews with the participants - there is no public access before 12:30.
Once the exhibition opens, community members are encouraged to take a closer look at the displays and engage with the learners.
Entry during the public viewing session is free.
