MELKHOUTFONTEIN NEWS - A new church opened its doors on 17 March.
The House of Mercy, a provincially represented Christian denomination, led by senior pastors Julian and Naomi Claassen, hosted a conference in the village and neighbouring Stilbaai from 6 to 10 March.
This conference concluded with the launch of a new assembly with resident leader Jonathan and Jeneen Kleinhans.
"The new assembly promises to bring restoration, healing, deliverance and breakthrough through the grace of God to this community currently challenged with social ills threatening to destroy the godly standards passed down through generations," says Pastor Kleinhans.
"House of Mercy commits itself to combat the following issues, which in many cases are the direct cause of various problems in society, namely the lack and absenteeism of fathers, alcohol and drug abuse, teenage pregnancies, poverty and early school dropouts."
The assembly leaders wish to extend their gratitude to the residents for their support and attendance at the conference. "This vibrant new church is focused on establishing a platform for a new beginning and a mighty move of God in Melkhoutfontein."
The conference included open-air services, door to door, street ministry, restoration and baptism services and was well attended by groups from Hessequa, as well as Cape Town, Klawer, Plettenberg Bay and Worcester.
"We pray for the blessing of God that enriches all stakeholders who, without hesitation, responded by investing in the conference to make it a success."
The assembly opened its doors at 09:00 on Sunday 17 March at the Ouma Lena-building on the corner of Freezia and Rooipitjie Avenues.
