RIVERSDALE NEWS - Hessequa Municipality proudly walked away with the silver award in the Best Municipal Project category at the Service Excellence Awards (SEA) held in Cape Town on Friday 12 September.
The award-winning project, the Inheems Teenager Art Competition - a collaboration between the Hessequa Library Service and the Gouritz Cluster Biosphere Reserve - secured second place behind the City of Cape Town's DHL Stadium pitch replacement.
The Service Excellence Awards, hosted annually by the Western Cape Government, aim to promote a people-centered culture, highlight professionalism, and celebrate outstanding service delivery.
This year, the competition expanded to also recognise municipalities and residents across the province.
A total of 267 entries were submitted across 13 categories.
In the Best Municipal Project category, the following projects competed:
Gold: Replacement of the pitch at DHL Stadium - City of Cape Town
Silver: Inheems Teenager Art Competition - Hessequa Municipality and Gouritz Cluster Biosphere Reserve
Bronze: SMME Development Programme for Social Regeneration - Swartland Municipality
Mossel Bay General Street Cleaning - Mossel Bay Municipality
Sondeza Afri Youth Leadership Initiative - Swartland Municipality
Council Performance Management
George Building Collapse Crisis Communication - George Municipality
The prestigious event was hosted at The Market Hall, Grand West, and celebrated service excellence across the Western Cape.
