SOUTHERN CAPE NEWS - The Department of Transport and Public Works published a notice in Provincial Gazette 7861 on 12 January, calling for public comments on the allocation of the 'CAG' vehicle licence mark to the registering authority of George where the well-known 'CAW' licence mark currently applies.
This move has become necessary because 'CAW' licence number permutations are running out fast.
Adding 'CAG' to the local licencing system will make almost a hundred thousand additional licence numbers available in the George area.
The department is working together with the George registering authorities to ensure that the transition is as smooth as possible, and that there are no delays in the allocation of new licence numbers.
