WESTERN CAPE NEWS - The Western Province Blood Transfusion Service (WPBTS) is currently experiencing critically low blood stock levels.
"WPBTS aims to maintain a blood stock level of five days at all times to ensure we meet the demands of the Western Cape. However, our blood stocks have been steadily declining. Especially Group O blood is very low," said Michelle Vermeulen, corporate public relations officer at WPBTS.
"We are appealing to everyone in the Western Cape to come forward and donate blood at a blood donation clinic near you."
If you are older than 16 years and younger than 65, weigh more than 50kg, are healthy on the day of donation and lead a safe sexual lifestyle you can be a blood donor. Visit www.wpblood.org.za, call 021 507 6300, SMS 'Blood' to 33507 or download our app, WP Blood to find out where to donate.
Your one donation can save up to three people's lives.
