"Our experts will create an exciting brand to turn Garden Route travellers into explorers of our beautiful area," says Elana Lotriet of the Hessequa Municipality. "We have attracted dynamic and experienced facilitators to guide us to a world-class brand that will invite those, who currently simply commute through our area along the N2, to break the journey and explore the wonderful experiences that we have to offer. Not only will they innovate our new brand positioning, but they will also create and theme Explorer Routes throughout the area and guide us in providing world-class experiences at every tourism product."
Jeanetta Marais of Your Travel Guide appealed to all tourism entrepreneurs and stakeholders to attend the workshops that will be held in five destinations in the area on 25 and 26 February. "This is an incredible opportunity for us to boost the destinations in the Hessequa area to reaching the potential that they deserve! The area has not enjoyed a high enough profile as part of the Garden Route and it has so much to offer," she said. "I will be facilitating the sessions with the very experienced destination marketing specialist, Shaun van Eck, and the 2 1/2 hour sessions will explore the new brand, the tourism route names and identities, the major markets that we will target, and will give attendees a fantastic toolkit on how to elevate the tourism experiences that they offer to world-class."
Marais said that the destinations in the Hessequa area were ideally suited to satisfying the needs of visitors to South Africa who enjoy exploring and experiencing unique and authentic local offerings.
"It is Hessequa's time to shine and claim its rightful place in the Garden Route family. Please attend the workshops as your top priority for next week and be part of our vision and actions from the beginning." Marais was confident that if the tourism industry got firmly behind the initiative and added energy and enthusiasm to it, that it would not lead to disappointment as may have happened in the past.
"Shaun and I are determined to see positive results flow from this initiative and establish it as a case study for other areas in the country. Please allow us to give you hope and passion for this exciting period of joint success over the next few years that will set up the future for Hessequa as a tourism destination."
