HESSEQUA NEWS - According to a press release issued on December 8 by Hessequa Municipality, Councillor Tinus van den Berg is the newly-elected deputy executive mayor for the next term.
"Councillor Van den Berg was unanimously elected as the deputy executive mayor during a special council meeting held on 19 November," said Didi Budricks, the municipality's media spokesperson.
The deputy executive mayor exercises the powers and performs the duties of the executive mayor in his absence or if the office of the executive mayor is vacant.
Van den Berg was elected as the ward councillor for Ward 3, which includes Stilbaai West and Jongensfontein and is a member of Hessequa Municipality's Executive Mayoral Committee.
In addition, he also serves on the following committees:
Chairman: Technical Services Portfolio Committee; chair: Disciplinary Committee; member: Corporate Management Portfolio Committee; member: Financial Services Portfolio Committee; member: Development Planning Portfolio Committee; member: Naming Committee; and member: Local Labour Forum.
