GARDEN ROUTE DISTRICT NEWS - The Cape Town Weather Office has issued a severe weather alert for the Garden Route District.
Strong north-westerly winds (60 - 75km/h) are expected over the Western Cape on Thursday 9 July.
Gale force winds (80 - 100km/h) wind are expected over the Central Karoo, Little Karoo, Cape Winelands, Overberg and coastal regions between Cape Columbine and Cape Agulhas, spreading to Plettenberg Bay by Thursday evening and subsiding by Friday morning.
Precautions: Strong winds
Stay indoors where possible, away from the windows that open towards the severe winds.
Be aware of the sudden crosswinds, especially between buildings, fallen trees or power lines, and flying debris.
Small boats must stay away from the open sea and seek the shelter of a harbour, river estuary, or protected bay.
Parked aircraft should be pointed into the direction of the wind and secured.
