SOUTH CAPE NEWS - The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has urged social grant beneficiaries to ensure they keep their payment cards and pin codes safe.
The agency have received numerous complaints of cases where beneficiaries had lost their cards, resulting in their social grant money being withdrawn fraudulently, a spokesperson said.
No person can withdraw money without the beneficiaries' consent and unless they provide their pin code and card. Beneficiaries are also warned that sharing pin codes with untrustworthy family members or strangers could result in the loss of social grants payments and lead to undue hardships.
Social grant beneficiaries must not hesitate to report any cases of fraud or corruption to the nearest police station as soon as possible. For more information contact Sassa toll-free at 0800 60 10 11 on weekdays from 08:00 - 16:00.
