SWELLENDAM NEWS - Various illegal firearms were confiscated on the N2 highway near Swellendam on Monday, 1 March.

Members of the Swellendam police were on patrol at about 18:30 when they were alerted about a suspicious bag that was seen along the highway at a picnic spot next to the road by a member of the public.

Upon arrival they noticed an abandoned black sports bag. A search of the bag resulted in the discovery of the illegal firearms, firearm parts as well as ammunition.
