Update
RIVERSDALE NEWS - A new driving school test range was opened at Kwanokuthula, Riversdale, on Friday 15 July by the Executive Mayor of Hessequa Municipality, Grant Riddles.
The new test range, developed at R740 600, will assist all driving schools in Hessequa in their daily test-driving activities. Obtaining a valid driver's licence is key in securing employment, and with this much-needed new facility, aspirant drivers will be greatly assisted.
The Director: Development Planning, Hendrik Visser, welcomed the delegates and the Speaker, Andrew Stroebel, provided background of the project in his speech at this memorable event.
Hessequa Municipality applied to the Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDAT) through their Booster Funding for a test range for all the driving schools. After the amount was secured, Jason Mduma's Wafumana Projects was appointed to build the test range. Only locals worked on this project.
Fiona Mabuya from DEDAT said that Hessequa Municipality applied for the funding and thanked the LED and Property Department for making the project possible.
"It is also heartwarming to see that the municipality is making land available for projects like these."
The Western Cape Province has a mandate saying they are open for business, and Hessequa Municipality supports this.
Riddles cut the ribbon as symbol of new opportunities for current entrepreneurs within the municipality.
The newly appointed municipal manager, Albert de Klerk, and the two driving schools, namely Van Zyl Driving School and Vrolik Driving School, signed the contracts on-site towards the end of the ceremony, attended by ward committee members, municipal officials and councillors.
