HESSEQUA NUUS - The local municipality has a new Director: Technical Services.

Werner Manho's appointment was unanimously approved by the council on Wednesday 27 May.

Manho grew up in Riversdale and matriculated in 1998 at Gerrit du Plessis Senior Secondary school. He started his career as a general worker on road projects for engineering firms. He then moved into the building industry while studying part-time at a technicon.

Manho joined Hessequa's planning department from 2007 to 2010, after which he left the region to study full time for the national diploma in civil engineering which he obtained in 2014. On coming back to Hessequa Municipality again as Head: Technical Services at the Riversdale technical section, he kept his dream of becoming a professional engineer alive.

BTech degrees in urban engineering and water engineering followed and he was promoted to the position of Manager: Civil Infrastructure where he was mentored by the late Harold Basson.

Municipal Manager Johan Jacobs, said he welcomed the appointment and expressed full confidence in Manho.
