RIVERSDALE NEWS AND VIDEO - Meals on Wheels Community Services South Africa (MOWCS SA) had their Extreme Ride for Hunger Tour from Kimberley to Cape Town.
They cycle from Kimberley to Cape Town stopping at various towns to do what they do best and that is to help those in need.
The tour took place from 4 to 9 March, going through various towns in the Northern and Western Cape.
The community was privileged that Riversdale was one of the many towns they stopped at.
Children from a local primary school and elderly individuals in need were identified. About 60 children received goody bags with various items ranging from stationary, sweets and sanitary requirements. The elderly received a well-balanced food parcel.
Everyone was very excited as the cyclist arrived. As soon as learners received their bags they started digging, bragging and could not stop smiling.
The adults stood in awe as they received their food parcels. An expression of gratefulness was clearly visible on their faces.
Since 1964, Meals on Wheels Community Services has aimed to serve the basic needs of the poorest of the poor, the vulnerable, the disabled and the elderly in society.
They are a fully fledged and recognised non-profit organisation that believes that hunger is the extreme materialisation of poverty and human deprivation.
They would like to thank all sponsors involved as well as Nieu Script for sponsoring bottles of drinking water while they were waiting.
