NATIONAL NEWS - The department of Transport and Public Works (DTPW) has reopened the Franschhoek Pass after a rockfall that took place on 22 June.
The department adopted a phased approach to making the pass safe again and traffic has been allowed to use the pass since 6 September.
Safety remains their utmost priority and should there be any indication that the road is still unsafe, the pass will be closed again for further remedial works.
An official opening by the Provincial Minister of Transport and Public Works, Bonginkosi Madikizela will take place on a date and time to be confirmed.
