HESSEQUA NEWS - Garden Route District Municipality, in cooperation with Garden Route Environmental Forum, are looking to commemorate the fires that devastated large swathes of the Southern Cape in 2017 and 2018 with a commemorative event on 7 June.
These fires not only caused untold damage to Knysna and Plettenberg Bay in 2017, but also widespread destruction along the Outeniqua Mountains and Stilbaai and Vermaaklikheid in Hessequa.
At this seminar, which will be held at Nelson Mandela University’s George campus, will consider whether the Southern Cape is ready for future fires as well as ways to eliminate biomass of invasive alien plants.
