GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - You can alleviate hunger and discomfort this winter by donating clothes, blankets and "bottles of ubuntu" to those in need.
Children's clothing especially is needed in all areas of Mossel Bay.
Recipe for bottle of ubuntu:
A cup of green, red or black lentils (or a mixture of lentils); half a cup of barley; a stock cube, unwrapped; one packet of dried soup; rice and/or pasta to fill up the bottle.
It is best not to use dried beans or split peas because they take long to cook and electricity and gas are expensive.
Write the cooking instructions on a piece of paper and pop into the bottle:
Place the bottle contents into a pot with three to six litres of water, bring to the boil and stir well and then simmer, stirring often.
For more information, call the ACVV social services (044 691 1039).
You can drop the clothes, blankets and bottles of ubuntu at the ACVV head office at 116 Montagu Street.
