HESSEQUA NEWS - No dogs are allowed on any swimming beach in the Hessequa area, regardless of whether or not the relevant beach has a blue flag status.
Owners may walk dogs in public places, which include secluded beaches and footpaths, but dogs must be on a leash and under the direct control of the owner.
Dog owners are required to carry a bag that is suitable for picking up and disposing of their dog's waste.
Hessequa Municipality calls on the community and visitors to show respect for each other and to comply with the regulations. 'No Dogs Allowed' signs have been placed at all swimming beaches to make sure that those who own and walk dogs are aware of the limitations.
The status quo will be maintained, namely the implementation of the by-law when complaints are received as well as cases where repeated offences occur. These types of violations must be reported to a law enforcement officer and the necessary fines will be issued.
