Update
"Over the past century, the natural historic sediment pathway from the beach into the dune fields has been disturbed and the sand dune fields stabilised principally with alien vegetation (rooikrans). Residential development, alien vegetation, roads and parking areas now occupy what was once an open sediment pathway between the beach and the dune field under the dominant onshore wind. In essence, a previously natural process was replaced by a managed system where a buffer dune system needs to be maintained to prevent wind-blown sand from blowing into the established residential and commercial areas and to keep the sand on the beach within reach of the coastal processes that maintain the beach dynamics."
"Philip Hendricks is the appointed Environmental Control Officer. Jonathan Michiel, under guidance of Laurie Barwell (consultant) is the supervisor on site ensuring that the implementation is carried out according to the plan. Laurie inspected the site after the initial work was conducted and recommended the current changes," aldus Jacobs.
