HEIDELBERG NEWSFLASH - The Heidelberg Diepkloof Youth Centre was the site of the mass sterilisation clinic on Tuesday 6 and Wednesday 7 June organized by Community Animal Rescue Society (CARS) of Riversdale.
CARS is a non-government organization, dependent on the goodwill of donors and animal lovers; they do receive a grant from the Hessequa municipality, which is barely enough to cover the expenses of one such clinic as the one in Diepkloof.
Dr Hilldidge Beer is a practicing veterinarian from Somerset West who comes out to places like Heidelberg and Albertinia twice a year to do this kind of welfare work.
On average Beer treats and/or sterilises fifty animals a day.
