SOUTHERN CAPE NEWS - Concerted efforts to eradicate drug trafficking along major entry and exit routes to towns of the Western Cape once again yielded positive results over the past weekend.
Ladismith
On Friday, 15 October, rural flying squad members conducted patrols along the R62 to Ladismith and they stopped a Toyota Quantum minibus taxi, travelling from the Cape metropole. They searched the vehicle and 14 bags of dagga, estimated at R24 000, were found inside.
The drugs were positively linked to a passenger on board. He was subsequently arrested.
The 46-year-old suspect from Calitzdorp is facing a charge of dealing in drugs.

Albertinia
Members of the flying squad also confiscated three bags of dagga and arrested a 29-year-old suspect on a charge of possession of drugs while on patrol on the N2 highway near Albertinia on the same day. The officers noticed the driver of a vehicle acting suspiciously. They stopped the vehicle and found drugs with an estimated street value of R6 000 inside.
All arrested remain in custody. They will appear in the respective local courts once charged.
Western Cape police management commended the officers for their commitment to rid communities of drugs.
