AGRICULTURE NEWS - A Boer goat stud near Griekwastad in the Northern Cape recently made the record books with the first double ram transaction in one day in South Africa, selling two rams for R1m each.
Lukas Burger, owner of the Lukas Burger Boer Goat Stud, said the outstanding prices were the result of 46 years of hard work and attention to detail as far as breeding and genetics were concerned.
“These two rams have the potential to add exceptional value to any flock they are introduced to. I want to thank and congratulate the buyers, Salmon van Huyssteen and Alvin Steenkamp, for making history with the first-ever double ram transaction in South Africa, with each sold at a million rand,” Burger told Farmer’s Weekly.
