GREAT BRAK NEWS - Two ladies' bowls teams from Still Bay took top honours in the popular Jan's Day, which is the Great Brak Bowling Club's equivalent of the annual Ladies Day.
The day is held in honour of Jan, a popular lady member of the club who died of cancer some years ago.
Her daughter in Switzerland, Gina, again sponsored the day in memory of her mother, who was a dedicated and popular bowls player.
A total of 20 teams from all over the region, represented by 80 players, entered the competition, which was played in glorious summer weather.
It was a joy to watch the excellent bowling delivered throughout the day.
It was clear that the Still Bay teams had entered with a mission.
They played constructive bowls throughout the tournament.
Elzie Erasmus, Monica le Roux (skip), Tersia Robertson (Great Brak Lady President). Marlene Newberry and Julie Peasy Lee (from left) took second prize at the tournament.
The winning team consisted of Mariana van der Walt (skip), Rina Gouws, Anita Linde and Magda Robbertse, and the team that took second place was made up of Monica Le Roux (skip), Elize Erasmus, Marlene Newberry and Julie Peasy Lee.
