"We have a very big group of players in our squad and we will look at them during our first training camp and select from that group a team that will take us forward," Saayman said on Wednesday.
"I need to make them understand that we need to become a family, because as a family the team will really fight hard to support each other."
Saayman was appointed Proteas head coach following the surprise resignation of Elize Kotze. She will be assisted by Elsje Jordaan and Martha Mosoahle.
Following the training camp in February, 15 players would be selected to form part of the core side to represent South Africa at the Netball World Cup in Sydney from August 7 to 16.
In the run-up to the World Cup, the players will spend time training under former Australian national coach Norma Plummer, with the aim of building a formidable side that will feature among the medal contenders.
Under Plummer's leadership, Australia won the World Championships in 2007 and again in 2011.
Saayman believed South Africa had enough quality players to do well in the World Cup, which would also significantly boost the country's world ranking.
"We are ranked sixth at the moment and we would like to do better than that," she said.
"I can't make promises but it's a heck of a challenge the team's facing but we will work together as a team and make sure we better our ranking."
South Africa was provisionally drawn alongside Malawi, Singapore and Sri Lanka in Pool C.
