HESSEQUA NEWS - Sport fans around the world are gearing up for a fabulous line-up of sport competitions coming to us over this festive season. Here in South Africa sport fans will have their money’s worth as local and international football, rugby and cricket dominate our holidays.
Rugby enthusiasts are in for a treat as the Super Rugby Unlocked comes to our screens for the next few weeks and will be followed by the Currie Cup which will finish in 2021.
This year’s rugby competitions see seven teams compete to become the best in provincial rugby in South Africa.
These teams include the usual four teams that would have played in the normal Super Rugby format and include Cell C Sharks, DHL Stormers, Vodacom Bulls and the Emirates Lions but is joined by the Toyota Cheetahs, Tafel Lager Griquas and Phakisa Pumas. Super Rugby Unlocked is followed by the Currie Cup which starts on 28 November. The competition will finish on 23 January 2021.
Cricket fans will be glad to know that there will be three tournaments in this year’s domestic cricket season.
The first ball of the CSA Four-Day Series will be bowled on 2 November and is scheduled to be played over four months, with the final on 25 February 2021.
The Momentum One Day Cup will bring all of the action that one day cricket brings and is only making a comeback in 2021. South Africans have six teams that they can rally behind for both of these tournaments. The T20 Challenge is coming just in time for coaches and players to get ready for the T20 World Cup Series which is hosted by India in 2021.
The competitions will start on Wednesday 10 March 2021.
