"I see my appointment both as a privilege and an honour and hope that I can make a difference in getting Humewood Golf Club back to where it belongs," McLean said in a statement on Thursday.
"In the current economic environment, I am aware that this will not be an easy task and therefore will need the support of a team effort from members, staff, committee as well as the Wiltshire management team to make it possible."
The club said McLean not only had the requisite experience and skills, but a sincere appreciation for the history and ethos of the club, something which the members held close to their hearts.
McLean also has a sound knowledge of the golfing environment, having played golf from the age of six and, at times, off a single figure handicap.
He commences his duties at the beginning of February.
