CRICKET NEWS - Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced the dates of national youth tournaments this year.
The Khaya Majola U19 tournament will be held in Potchefstroom from 18 to 22 December and the U19 girls' tournament in Paarl from 16 to 20 December.
As part of a national school review process, new age group tournaments for U16 boys and girls will be introduced.
The boys U16 national tournament (Pretoria) and girls' U16 national tournament (Gqeberha – formerly Port Elizabeth) will take place from 13 to 17 December.
As part of the review process, national tournaments for U13s and U15s were scheduled, but Cricket South Africa confirmed in correspondence circulated on 30 August, the cancellation of all regional festivals planned for December.
The effects of the Covid pandemic was at the forefront of these decisions and the safely of all participants was the overriding factor in these decisions.
The tournaments cancelled were the U13 one to be held in Cape Town (12-15 December) and the U15 one set for Stellenbosch (16-19 December).
The regional girls U15 girls' tournament, to be held in Cape Town from 12 to 15 December, and the U13 girls' week scheduled for Oudtshoorn from 16-18 December were also cancelled.
