SPORT NEWS - Two employees of South Western Districts Cricket (SWDC), Mr. Gary Moos (the cricket services manager) and Pieter Stuurman (the club and facilities coordinator) recently completed an Advanced Certificate in sports, recreation and fitness management (NQF Level 6) at ETA College.
A third member, Garry Hampson, who was employed by SWDC previously as the coach education Manager, and has since been deployed to Cricket South Africa, also completed the qualification.
The graduation ceremony took place in George last week.
According to Albertus Kennedy, SWD Cricket's Chief Executive Officer, this qualification is a significant accomplishment and a major milestone in their careers.
"The study opportunity was made possible as part of a bursary project funded by SWDC via a grant from the National Lotteries Commission," said Kennedy.
Kennedy emphasised the importance of career pathing that ensures that each staff member's potential is developed optimally and there is a career mapped out for employees in the company.
"We have a succession framework in place intending to develop career paths for individuals to assist them in their careers, making them more enthusiastic about their jobs and therefore making them more productive. In this way, the individual skills may be utilised to achieve the goals of both the individual and the organisation," he concluded.
Rudy Claassen, the President of SWDC, congratulated the employees."The fact that they have shown the commitment and discipline to study after hours to further their careers is commendable and we will in the process establish a highly motivated workforce."
