GEORGE NEWS AND VIDEO - No voting was necessary for the mayoral position in George.
DA's Jackie von Brandis is currently delivering her first mayoral speech after being the only valid nomination received from political parties.
The ANC nominated Gert van Niekerk of FF Plus, but he is not at today's meeting.
Von Brandis said she will make it her purpose to deliver services to all citizens, including those in remote areas.
"I want to assure you that this is a governance for each and everyone in George," said Von Brandis. She said she needs councillors to get involved in communities. "We need to do this together."
