MOSSEL BAY NEWS: A family in Hartenbos Heuwels has lost all their belongings in a house fire.
A friend of the family, Tarina Els, told the Mossel Bay Advertiser that the Van Jaarsveld family’s home, business, equipment, and personal items were completely destroyed.
“They are currently left with only the clothes they were wearing,” Els said.
She appealed for help, asking that anyone able to assist make a donation.
“If you are able to help, please donate what you can, and feel free to share this message with others. I will create a BackaBuddy page for them, but until then, you can contact me,” she said.
Several homes are reportedly burning in Island View too, with some residents evacuating while others remain in a safe zone.
All relevant authorities are on the scene, but it is unclear at this stage if anyone has been injured.
Meanwhile, emergency accommodation has been made available for affected residents.
ATKV Hartenbos is providing housing to those forced to leave their homes. Residents in need can contact 044 601 7228.
The Mossel Bay community is being urged to support those affected as firefighting efforts continue.
