HEIDELBERG NEWS - About 100 mourners from far afield, including about 30 members of the South African Army and the Cape Town band, attended the memorial service for Major Chris Nicholls.
During this moving service held at the Langeberg Christian Fellowship Centre, to celebrate the life of this unsung music maestro, many former colleagues paid tribute to their former band director.
Pastor Len Burger officiated and inspired Chris' wife, Sally, daughter, Riona, son-in-law Gareth, and all the mourners with 1 Cor 15 v 51-55.
After the rendition of the Last Post and Reveille, played by WO2 Grant Gibbons, the family was presented with a photo of Chris' belt and medals by major Vernon Michels, then bandmaster.
