GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Youngsters entering for the regional leg of Eskom's Expo for Young Scientists have until midnight on Wednesday 26 July to upload the required project documents.
The regional competition takes place on Friday and Saturday, 4 and 5 August, at Outeniqua High School.
This regional contest is part of a series of science fairs held throughout the country, specifically designed for the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists.
It serves as a platform for exceptionally talented young scientists in the country to demonstrate their scientific prowess and allows students in Grades 4 to 12 to present and discuss their scientific investigations in various scientific fields. Contestants will interact with judges, teachers, students from other schools, parents, and other interested individuals.
Earlier this year, a range of workshops, research and innovation camps, and district exhibitions was organised in all nine provinces to assist the participants with their preparations. Here, learners received valuable feedback from a team of experts to improve their research prior to the regional competitions.
At the regional science fairs, young scientists compete for the opportunity to represent their respective regions and provinces at the esteemed Eskom Expo International Science Fair (ISF).
This year, the ISF is scheduled to be held at the Birchwood Hotel and Conference Centre in Boksburg from 3 to 6 October.
ISF participants will have the opportunity to present their projects and compete for numerous prizes, scholarships and prospects, along with the chance to be chosen to showcase their research or innovation at an international science fair in the United States of America, Asia, Europe and the rest of Africa.
