AGRICULTURE NEWS - Agri Western Cape is proud to invite young farmers in the Western Cape to enter for the Agri Western Cape / Santam Young Farmer of the Year Competition 2025.
This award, which recognises the excellence and innovation of young farmers, offers an ideal platform for young farmers to showcase their management and technical skills and receive exposure within the agricultural sector.
The competition is open to farmers aged 40 years and younger who on the entry date had already been a paid-up member of their local agricultural association for at least one year.
Participants can farm independently, be in partnerships, or serve as farm managers, provided they have specific management responsibilities that can be assessed.
The adjudication process focuses on key areas such as the following:
- Management philosophy and skills
- Financial management and record keeping
- Technical competency in farming practices
- Marketing philosophy and practices
- Community involvement and participation in organised agriculture.
The provincial winner will automatically qualify as a finalist in the national competition where they compete with other young farmers across South Africa for the sought-after Toyota SA / Agri SA Young Farmer of the Year title.
The winner not only receives recognition for their exceptional achievements but also valuable prizes and exposure within the industry. The closing date is 25 April 2025.
