FOOTBALL NEWS - The Lawaaikamp outfit Simunye Football Club sank Sea Birds 1-0 in an entertaining Safa Eden Regional Men's League game on Saturday morning, 29 April at Extension 23 in Mossel Bay.
The only goal was netted by Yamkela Ntlaba of Simunye. Simunye players are fighting their way up to the top eight positions on the Regional League table and currently have 40 points after playing 24 fixtures with 12 victories, four draws and eight defeats.
Sea Birds from Mossel Bay are looking to reach the top four on the log.
The game started very well with both teams playing offensive football and the home team, Sea Birds, looking very dangerous on the ball. Simunye defenders soaked up the pressure, defending the strong attacks from Sea Birds.
The first half ended with no score on the board after both teams failed to break the net.
The second half saw the teams chasing the game looking for the opening goal, but both sides failed to convert their clear-cut opportunities inside the box. Sea Birds were playing beautiful football and creating goal-scoring chances in the box.
Simunye took the game from Sea Birds, dominating through attacking on the wings, and Yamkela Ntlaba of Simunye scored the opening goal to make it 1-0. Sea Birds did not give up on the possibility of scoring an equalising goal, but they failed to penetrate through Simunye's solid defence.
The Safa Eden Regional Men's League game ended 1-0 with Simunye going home with maximum points.
