The 2011 World Junior Cross Country Champion has also won gold medals at the 2014 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships and the 2015 IAAF World Cross Country Championships as well as the 10,000m silver medal at the IAAF World Championships Beijing 2015.
He has now set his sights on winning gold at next year’s Rio Olympic Games and feels he will be a force to reckoned with in 2020.
“I’m proud of all the medals I have won, but I honestly think my biggest successes are still to come,” said Kamworor.
“I am really looking forward to running the 10,000m at the Rio Olympics and then maybe the marathon at the Tokyo Games in 2020. To win an Olympic gold medal would be a dream for me.”
During his career, Kamworor has made many friends both on and off the track but highlighted that working with 2015 London and Berlin marathon winner Eluid Kipochoge was very important to his development.
“We have known each other for ten years and I’ve trained with Eliud for five years, and he is always there for me,” said Kamworor.
“He talks to me about a range of subjects. He is happy to share his running experiences with me but he also offers advice outside of athletics.”
On the coaching front, Kamworor said that Patrick Swan is equally willing and able to give sound advice and that he has taught him to believe that nothing is impossible.
