NATIONAL NEWS - President Cyril Ramaphosa announced on Sunday 24 May, that South Africa will move to lockdown level 3 on 1 June.
The following regulations will pertain to wholesale and trade, as well as information and communication:
The sale of the following will be permitted:
- Any food product.
- Animal food.
- Toilet paper, sanitary pads, sanitary tampons, condoms.
- Hand sanitiser, disinfectants, soap, alcohol for industrial use, household cleaning products, and personal protective equipment.
- Products for the care of babies and toddlers.
- Personal toiletries, including haircare, body and face care products, roll-ons, deodorants, dental care products.
- Medical and hospital supplies, medicine, equipment and personal protective equipment.
- Fuel, including coal, wood, paraffin and gas.
- Airtime and electricity.
- Hardware, components and supplies for sale to the general public.
- Stationery and all books.
- Chemicals, packaging and ancillary products used in the production of any these products.
- All household appliances.
- All clothing, home textiles and footwear, subject to further directions.
- Personal ICT equipment including computers, mobile telephones and other home office equipment.
- Motor vehicles sales, subject to directions.
- Off-premises consumption of alcohol, with the sale thereof subject to limited hours and days – to be announced.
Information and communication services:
- All telecommunication services and infrastructure.
- Information and Communication Technology services for all private and business customers.
- Postal services and courier services (i.e. eCommerce) related to transport of retail goods, subject to directions.
