NATIONAL NEWS - The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) says the roads affected by a taxi strike in the city centre have been cleared and demonstrators have now dispersed.
Operators from Mamelodi, Atteridgeville, Soshanguve, Ga-Rankuwa and the CBD marched to Tshwane Mayor Solly Msimanga's offices on Wednesday.
They have handed over a memorandum of demands to the city.
They were protesting against the issuing of traffic tickets which prevents them from renewing their vehicle licenses.
The TMPD's Isaac Mahamba says officers are still stationed at the affected areas.
“The people have dispersed and roads have been opened but TMPD officers are still in the affected areas just to make sure that things go back to normal.”
