A heartless driver hit the crossbreed and just left it there, with no intention of checking whether the dog was alive or dead.
Thokozo noticed the injured animal in the road as he was walking to catch his transport to school on Wednesday morning.
He moved the dog to the side of the road, where it was not in any danger of being hit by another passing vehicle. Every day after school, he fed and gave the dog fresh, clean water. He also put his jacket over the animal so that it could stay warm at night.
Living on the Pieters road, he had no idea who to phone for help.
On Friday, after asking his colleagues at school, Thokoza found out about a lady from Colenso who knew the Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL).
