WITSAND NEWSFLASH - After a Loggerhead Turtle washed up in Witsand on 29 April, action was taken immediately.
The NSRI Station 33, Witsand Port Baufort, contacted Lower Breede River Conservancy Trust (LBRCT) as soon as they got word of the washed up turtle.
When the LBRCT arrived on the scene, they discovered the turtle between two rocks. It is not clear why he washed up.
The Two Oceans Aquarium was contacted and asked if they could assist.
Loggerheads can weigh up to 150kg and live to be 60 years old..
