WITSAND NEWS - NSRI Witsand Port Beaufort was notified by police at 08:30 on Sunday 11 March of a house on fire on the farm Rhenosterfontein about 8 km from Witsand.
An NSRI team that was the closest, responded with their fire fighting trailer and equipment. On arrival, the kitchen was on fire. Hessequa Fire and Rescue Services was alerted and also responded.
The NSRI team were able to extinguish the fire before it spread to the rest of the house. As soon as the Fire and Rescue Services arrived they handed over to them.
It is suspected that a container with fuel used to start a coal fire had ignited causing the fire.
Heidelberg Police are investigating. No injuries were sustained in the incident.
The kitchen was on fire when a NSRI team arrived on the scene.
