XTERRA Warriors that are familiar with the Buffelspoort route will be pleased to hear that the mountain bike discipline in both the XTERRA Full and XTERRA Lite races have undergone an exciting revamp.
“The XTERRA Full MTB route will have a completely new look and feel,” says Hendrico Burger, Route Manager.
“The revamp was implemented to celebrate the announcement of the Magaliesberg Biosphere Nature Reserve of which the Buffelspoort Valley forms a part of. The first 14km will venture into fresh new trails never before ridden at XTERRA.
The first half of the route will be the most challenging half which will include a couple of steep climbs and down hills. The highlight will be the spectacular views from different vantage points on top of the plateau. The second half of the route will be fast and less technical.”
“XTERRA Lite entrants are also in for a treat,” continues Burger. “This year entrants will ride the 2015 route in reverse, making it a completely new challenge for the entrant that does not miss an event.
The XTERRA Full run route will prove to be tough with a long, steep climb just after the halfway mark. Both the XTERRA Full and XTERRA Lite run routes will be fun, while putting trail running skills and fitness to the ultimate test.”
