NATIONAL NEWS - Gauteng police were on Thursday still looking for the unknown assailants who shot and killed a 40-year-old man in a car in Pretoria West on Tuesday afternoon.
Police spokesperson Colonel Brenda Muridili said police were investigating the possibility that the victim may have been chauffeuring his elderly employer at the time of the shooting.
The elderly employer – reportedly a well-known businessman – was believed to still be missing.
Muridili could not confirm whether the police were investigating a kidnapping or a missing person’s case along with the murder case.
“Members responded to a complaint of a shooting on Staatsartillerie Road near corner E’skia Mphahlele Drive and on arrival, they found the deceased inside a silver-grey Lexus that had crashed into a tree.

“He had multiple gunshot wounds and was certified dead on the scene,” Muridili said.
Media reports alleged that the deceased was with his employer when the shooting happened and the elderly employer was abducted by the assailants.
Muridili could, however, not confirm the abduction or reports of the demand for ransom.
“Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or have information that could lead to the apprehension of the perpetrator(s), to call their nearest police station or the crime stop number 08600-10111.”
