NATIONAL NEWS - An Ivory Park Secondary School maths teacher accused of rape appeared at the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court yesterday (May 6), where his case was postponed.
Kempton Express reports the postponement is pending a forensic report compiled by a social worker.
Allegations
The accused is alleged to have raped a 17-year-old learner at the school on 25 December, 2025.
During his bail application on 17 March, he denied the allegations and indicated his intention to plead not guilty. He also told the court that he is fully co-operating with the investigating officer.
In his affidavit, he further stated that he would not attempt to contact the complainant, witnesses or the complainant’s guardian, and maintained that he does not pose a danger to the community.
The state informed the court that the complainant does not oppose bail.
Bail conditions
Bail was granted on strict conditions, which include that the accused may not directly or indirectly contact the complainant, her family or any witnesses. He is also prohibited from coming within 50m of the school.
Any breach of these conditions will result in his arrest.
The accused remains out on bail and is expected to return to the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on 3 July.
