NATIONAL NEWS - A 34-year-old man is expected to appear in the Barberton Magistrate’s Court today after he was arrested for possession of dagga with an estimated street value of R600?000.
Mpumalanga News reports the suspect was apprehended in Kaapmuiden on Saturday at around 08:30.
According to Mpumalanga police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane, officers from the White River Flying Squad were patrolling the N4 near the Low’s Creek turn-off when they noticed a silver Toyota Corolla heading towards Mbombela.
“The police stopped and searched the vehicle and discovered that the driver was transporting 36 packs of loose dagga in plastic bags, as well as one compressed bale wrapped in brown tape, with a total weight of 93.6?kg,” says Ndubane.
He adds that the driver was immediately arrested for dealing in dagga. “He told officers that he was travelling from Schoemandal to the North West. The vehicle was impounded for further investigation.”
