MOTORING NEWS - Dorna Sports, the administrators of MotoGP, have announced that the French Motorcycle Grand Prix will remain as part of the MotoGP championship until at least the end of 2026.
MotoGP has a massive following in France, in no small way connected with the efforts of French former Moto2 world champion Johann Zarco, who planted his Monster Tech 3 Yamaha on pole position for the recent French race at Le Mans.
The event saw more than 120 000 spectators who were sad to witness their hero crashing out, but enjoyed a brilliant day of racing nonetheless.
Claude Michy of race organizers PHA, commented, "We are very pleased to extend our partnership with Dorna and excited to continue building MotoGP in France. The French GP has grown and continues growing to new heights every year and it's fantastic to celebrate our 25th season organising the event by extending this agreement until 2026."
Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta added, "The Grand Prix of France is a key event on the MotoGP calendar and it always draws incredible crowds. Our long-standing partnership with Claude Michy has been tremendous in ensuring the outstanding event that the French Grand Prix is today and I am very pleased to consolidate our presence in France."
