GEORGE BUSINESS NEWS - Shell Kraaibosch Service Station is among the top 10 South African Shell filling stations for 2017 in the company's People Make the Difference Real programme. It is the third consecutive year that they pull off this feat.
For this grand achievement, they were once again awarded the Gold Site of the Year award and were invited to the Smiling Stars Global event which is taking place in Dubai from 7 to 12 May. Consistent service levels are prerequisite in order to be considered for this award.
"A mystery marker visits the site four times a year and marks us according to international Shell standards. We do not know who is coming or when, so the marks are a true reflection of the service of our employees," says the proud owner, Morné Strauss.
Globally, 40 000 Shell filling stations take part in the People Make the Difference Real programme. In South Africa, 650 filling stations are judged.
"For us to be among the top 10 - that is in the top 1% - is no mean feat. We are still a young business - in October this year we will have been in operation for five years. George is a small site compared with sites in the big centres and the difference between the top 30 sites is marginal, so competition is tough."
Strauss is full of praise for his dedicated staff who undergo regular training. In 2016, one of their quality marshals, Enoch Mvandaba, and the forecourt manager, Raymond Pietersen, were announced as South Africa's two best petrol attendants and as a result, they represented the country at last year's Smiling Stars Global event in New York City.
Shell Kraaibosch was also named 2016 Best Country Retailer of the Year and Shell Site of the Year in South Africa.

Shell Kraaibosch is a convenience destination that offers a 24-hour filling station, 24-hour Spar Express with a Bean Tree Café, Steers, and ATMs of all four major banks. The Spar Express offers the same variety as the Super Spar, from quality meat to a large variety of foodstuffs.
