PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Bitou's youth will take centre stage on Friday with Bitou Municipality set to host a big Youth Day celebration on Plettenberg Bay's Central Beach.
Some of the treats in store for local youngsters, include entertainment from big names in the South African music industry including live performances by Prince Kaybee, Soa Matrix and Biggy.
Local artists, who had been chosen on Tuesday 13 June through a selection process at the municipality's offices, will share the stage with them.
The municipality announced that the event will take place on 16 June between 10:00 and 18:00 and is free of charge. Included in the celebrations will be meal tickets for the first 1 500 young people through the gates.
The master of ceremonies for the event will be none other than Garden Route funny man Moses Williams's alter ego Ouma Sarie.
His character, Ouma Sarie, has become a sensation over the past few years for amusing performances in her pink nightgown and "kopdoek".
The municipal communications team said that all Is have been dotted and Ts crossed for the event including safety. "Bitou Municipality's public safety unit, in partnership with various other roleplayers in the security cluster, will be on hand at the event to ensure that the event runs smoothly.
"We request everyone to cooperate with the law enforcement agencies that will be deployed at the event," the communications team said.
They also said the municipality had also ensured that local businesses in the Central Beach precinct, would not be negatively impacted. "There will be security personnel deployed and the event will also start and end at an appropriate time."
